  22. Are there any spare nuts in this place?

there was a little oak tree
    nothing did it bare
it must have been a drought that year
    so didn’t set them there
    I waited for another year
    thinking to see it end
but, day by day the skies were blue
no clouds the earth did send

    I waited yet another year
    wishing clouds this way
    singing songs and praying prayers
but still there was no rain
    and so we started planting
    anticipation raised
the little trees sang for us
and love sent out its rays

    we greened the streets
    we greened the yards
    we planted here and there
the more we did the more they sang
    connecting thus to earth
    deep roots drew deep love
    moist beads touched the air

it built up around the hills
    creating ‘simpson’ clouds
it billowed over plains and creeks
the trees to greet it there
they said ‘hello’ as passing by
leaf to cloud a welcome tear
a little drop a little splash
    rewarding those who cared

and then it came that welcomed rain
    as gentle as a kiss
    parched ground breathed in
    the trees did drink
the love returned to caring folk
    who dreamed of gardens there
all sang with joy and sparkled
    an harmonious refrain

The flowers bloomed the fruits filled up
    the seeds of life returned
to dry, parched land because of love
    because they saw it there
that welcomed rain the need of life
    vibrations of a few
was just enough to bring it here
    and nuts then did return.
